Davide Bigazzi is a renowned jeweler and metalsmith known for his exquisite creations that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistry. Inspired by the beauty of his hometown, Florence, Italy, Davide infuses his work with a touch of its rich artistic history.
Davide's mastery lies in the ancient art of chasing and repoussé, a technique that involves shaping and embellishing metal with raised bas-relief designs. He honed this skill under the guidance of the acclaimed Florentine sculptor and jeweler, Bino Bini, during his formative years. Collaborating with Bini on prestigious projects for renowned institutions like the Vatican, national banks, and churches, Davide meticulously refined his craftsmanship.
Launching his career as a bench jeweler at the young age of nineteen, Davide swiftly climbed the ranks, assuming roles as a designer, model maker, and production supervisor for commercial manufacturers. His exceptional work garnered widespread recognition, attracting numerous requests from renowned Italian fashion houses and fine silver manufacturers. He became a sought-after freelance designer and model maker, consistently impressed with his collections.
In 1995, Davide's trajectory shifted when he received the International Artisans Award at the Mostra Internazionale dell'Artigianato. This prestigious accolade prompted him to reevaluate his career and rediscover his passion for meticulous handcrafting. Consequently, he made the decision to focus on creating one-of-a-kind pieces, moving away from the fast-paced design industry.
In 1997, Davide and his wife, Elisa, established their studio near Florence, embarking on a new chapter. Their creations quickly captivated an audience in the United States, leading them to relocate their business to California in 2003. A few years later, they opened the Davide Bigazzi Studio and Gallery in Menlo Park, where enthusiasts could experience the brilliance of Davide's work firsthand.
Presently, Davide continues to produce his latest handcrafted collections at his California studio. In addition, he shares his expertise as a teacher, offering classes on chasing and repoussé in both the United States and Italy. Through his teachings, Davide spreads his contagious passion for jewelry and metalsmithing to students at all skill levels.
